Everything worth knowing for your trip
The apartment, arriving in Hungary, local essentials and help if anything comes up — every detail for your stay.
The apartment
Booking, rooms, amenities, extras — everything that happens at home.

Booking and cancellation
How you book, how the payment is structured, and what happens if your plans change.
From the homepage search or the top menu you go straight to the booking page. There a calendar shows which days are available and the daily prices. Pick arrival and departure with two clicks, set guest count, then add extras, fill in your details and pay an online deposit.
Yes, guest checkout works. An account makes things easier next time though — arrival info, extras and our messages all live in one place.
Free cancellation up to 7 days before arrival — full deposit refunded. Within 7 days the deposit is non-refundable but credited toward a future stay. For exceptional cases (illness, missed flight) write to us, we always look for a fair solution.
Yes. The booking starts with a 30% online deposit which secures the dates. The remaining 70% can be paid on arrival or by bank transfer 24 hours ahead.
Within minutes of a successful payment, you receive a confirmation email with all the details — arrival, code lock, quick neighborhood tips. If something doesn't arrive, write to info@beardy-bear.hu.

The apartment and amenities
What you'll find inside: 4 rooms, large living area, well-equipped kitchen, terrace.
Four separate rooms, each with its own entrance and key lock. All have a double bed (160×200), wardrobe space, and blackout curtains. Three rooms also have a large desk with a reading lamp — ideal for longer stays or remote work.
One large bathroom with a tub, separate shower, double sink and lots of storage — easily handles multiple guests. Plus a separate WC with sink, very handy for families or morning rush hours.
Fully equipped: induction stove, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, microwave, fridge, plus dishes and cutlery for 8. There's a small breakfast counter for quick coffees, and the large dining table seats 8 comfortably.
About 26 m² of artificial turf terrace, seating for up to 8. Beamed, intimate atmosphere — works equally well for evening candlelight or morning coffee. Downtown view, but tucked into a quiet dead-end street.
A 55″ 4K Smart TV in the living room (Netflix, YouTube, Disney+ supported) with HDMI input. Works for movie nights or business meetings.
It's the social heart of the apartment: leather seating, coffee table, large dining setup, soft warm lighting. Great for groups loosening up, families slowing down, or a small startup workshop.

Work, teams, digital nomads
If you'll use the apartment during the day too — desks, fast internet, quiet rooms.
Absolutely — three rooms have a large desk, fast Wi-Fi (gigabit), comfortable chairs, and a lockable door for video calls. The terrace is also fine for outdoor laptop work in good weather.
Yes — for groups up to 8 we explicitly recommend it. The large dining table plus the 55″ TV (HDMI in) works well for brainstorming or presentations. Whiteboard, paper, pens and highlighters are available as paid extras.
Fiber, real 1 Gbit up and down. 4K Zoom calls, large file uploads, dev work — all smooth. We also keep a backup mobile hotspot in case of disruption.
From a week stays start to feel different — the rhythm slows, you know the area, and longer-stay discounts kick in (week+ gets a custom offer). For multi-week nomads we put together a tailored offer.

Extra services
Direct booking only — these aren't available on Booking or Airbnb.
Refreshing drinks (water, soft drinks, alcohol on request), breakfast basics (coffee, tea, bread, jam), snack pack (crisps, sweets). Order during the booking flow. For something specific (vegan-friendly, dietary), tell us 24 hours ahead.
Yes — for birthdays, anniversaries or as an arrival surprise. Flavor, design and size are custom; prices start from 14 900 HUF depending on the bakery. Let us know 48 hours before arrival to confirm availability.
Whiteboard, paper, pens, highlighters, post-its. The 4K TV supports HDMI or AirPlay for presentations. If you need catering (lunch or snacks during the workshop), we have good relationships with nearby places and can arrange it for you at fixed pricing.
Yes, we can arrange a pre-booked airport transfer with a fixed price and an English- or Hungarian-speaking driver. The driver tracks your flight automatically (delays included) and brings you straight to the apartment.
Mention it during booking or by email — flowers, decoration, baby cot, pets, anything is on the table. Most things we can solve; what we can't, we'll tell you honestly and suggest an alternative.

Why book direct?
Two words: better price, better experience. Details below.
Booking and Airbnb add 12-18% commission, which the guest pays in the listed price. With us directly, prices are accordingly lower — by exactly that amount. On a two-night family stay that's around 15-25 thousand HUF (€40-65) of difference.
Because the extras (cake, welcome drinks, transfer, whiteboard) are not orderable on Booking — only here. And the communication is direct: not a support ticket, but an actual person who'll open the door tomorrow.
On a direct booking we are your point of contact — we react faster because there's no channel customer service in between. If the water heater breaks on the day of arrival, the plumber is called within minutes. If you're running late, our line picks up. Simpler and more personal than an aggregator.
Arrival
Getting in by car or plane, parking, check-in.

Check-in and access
When you can arrive, how the code lock opens the door, and how the rooms lock — there is no elevator.
Standard check-in is 15:00, check-out 11:00. Early check-in or late check-out are available on request as paid extras during the booking flow.
The front door opens with a digital code lock. The code arrives by email and SMS on the day of arrival. No need to meet in person — you can arrive any time of day or night.
Yes, all four rooms can be locked with separate keys, so groups of friends or strangers traveling together each get their own private space. Keys are on the entrance counter.
Unfortunately no. If you arrive with heavy luggage or someone in the group has limited mobility, let us know in the booking — we'll help carry the bags up.
Five minutes: punch in the code, door opens, and there is a welcome note inside with the practical info (Wi-Fi password, heating controls, where to put trash, nearby shops). No paperwork, no waiting around.

Getting here and around
From the airport, by train, by car — we are well-connected to central Budapest.
From Liszt Ferenc Airport: 100E airport bus to Deák Ferenc Square, then 2-3 tram stops or 8-10 minutes on foot. The 100E ticket is separate (~2200 HUF) and a normal BKV pass doesn't cover it. Or, more comfortably, book one of our airport transfers in the extras — fixed price, English- or Hungarian-speaking driver.
Short stay (1-2 days): single ticket or day pass (450 / 3000 HUF). Longer stay: 72-hour (5500 HUF) or weekly pass (6500 HUF). Available at all stops via card, or in the BudapestGO app.
Yes, Google Maps knows Budapest's transit well — it shows live schedules for metros, trams and buses. The BudapestGO app is even better for real-time disruptions.
From Keleti station: 4 stops on M2 metro to Deák Ferenc Square, then 8 minutes on foot. From Nyugati: one stop on M3 or bus 7. From Déli: M2 directly to Deák. All within 15-20 minutes.
A car is useful only if you also plan day trips outside Budapest — within the city, transit is more comfortable. Street parking is paid in the area, but 2 spots in the nearby underground garage are included in your booking.

Parking
Two spots are included in the booking at the VIGPARKING garage right next door.
Two spots are included at the VIGPARKING covered garage right next to us (1084 Budapest, Bacsó Béla utca 18-20). The garage is literally one minute on foot — basically the building next door.
Additional spots are bookable directly at VIGPARKING. Current rates: 800 HUF/hour, 9 900 HUF/day, 31 900 HUF/week. More info and online booking at vigparking.hu, or call +36 70 585 9000.
The neighborhood (Józsefváros) is a paid zone weekdays 8:00-22:00. Street parking is expensive and often hard to find — the garage next door is the stress-free option.
VIGPARKING is a 4-level, 320-space, camera-monitored covered garage with 24/7 access, right next to the apartment. M2 and M4 metro plus tram lines 4-6 are all 1 minute away.
About Hungary
Currency, taxi, public transport and local basics.

Hungary basics
Currency, taxis, public transport — the essentials for your first hours.
Hungarian forint (HUF). Rough rates: 1 EUR ≈ 400 HUF, 1 USD ≈ 370 HUF. Card payment works almost everywhere — shops, restaurants, taxis, even BKV tickets — but a small amount of cash is useful at markets or small bakeries. ATMs and exchange offices are plentiful nearby.
Easiest: Bolt or Foxtaxi apps — English-friendly, fixed price, cashless. By phone, 6×6 Taxi (+36 1 666 6666) is reliable. Avoid the random street taxis around tourist hotspots.
BKV runs metro (M1–M4), trams, buses and trolleys. Easiest is the BudapestGO app — tickets, passes, live schedules. Short stay (1–2 days): day pass 3000 HUF. Longer: 72-hour (5500 HUF) or weekly (6500 HUF). The 100E airport bus needs a separate ticket (~2200 HUF) — normal BKV passes don't cover it.
Younger locals, restaurants, cafés and the tourist quarter mostly yes. Older taxi drivers or small shops sometimes not — Google Translate's camera mode helps a lot. Hungarian is a hard language; nobody expects you to speak it.
About 10% at restaurants is standard; many places include a service charge on the bill. If not, leave cash or ask to add it to the card total. For taxis, rounding up is the norm.

If anything happens, don't call Booking customer service — call us, we're your first point of contact.

Not a problem — thanks to the digital code lock, you can arrive any time, day or night. If the code didn't arrive or doesn't work, call us, we'll sort it out in seconds. No need to meet in person.
Phone: +36 70 123 4567 (Hungarian/English, 24/7 for urgent matters). Email: info@beardy-bear.hu (1–2 hour reply). In-account messaging if you registered. Don't write via Booking — it may take days.
